How to measure
Measure the tiled area and copy kg/m² from the selected adhesive TDS for the actual trowel, tile and substrate condition. Enter the bag mass.
Worked example
8 m² at 3 kg/m² needs 24 kg. With 10% allowance the plan is 26.4 kg; 20 kg bags require 2 bags and provide 40 kg.
Formula and purchasing method
net mass = area × product/trowel consumption; planned mass = net × (1 + allowance/100); bags = ceil(planned mass ÷ bag mass).
Assumptions
- The entered consumption matches the selected adhesive and trowel.
- The substrate is prepared within the product instructions.
Limitations
- Substrate profile, tile back, coverage target and back-buttering affect real usage.
- The tool does not select an adhesive or verify installation suitability.

Why does trowel size matter?
Notch geometry changes the adhesive bed and therefore coverage per bag.
Does the result prove adequate tile coverage?
No. Installation instructions require checking transfer and coverage on site.
