How to use this calculator

How to measure

Measure the net surface area, then the nominal tile length and width. Copy the actual pieces per box from the selected product packaging.

Worked example

For 12 m², 600 × 300 mm tiles and 10% waste, planned area is 13.2 m². Each tile is 0.18 m², so 74 tiles are required; boxes of 8 require 10 boxes and 80 tiles.

Formula and purchasing method

planned area = area × (1 + waste/100); tile area = length × width; required tiles = ceil(planned ÷ tile area); boxes = ceil(required tiles ÷ pieces per box).

Assumptions

  • The entered surface area is already net of excluded zones.
  • Nominal tile dimensions and box count match the selected product.

Limitations

  • Formula v1 does not optimize a cutting layout or pattern repeat.
  • Breakage, shade lots and attic stock are represented only by the chosen waste percentage.

FAQ

What waste percentage should I use?

Select it for the layout and product; the calculator does not silently impose a recommendation.

Why can purchased area exceed planned area?

Both tiles and boxes are whole units, so two upward rounding steps can add coverage.
