Fence mesh rolls
Calculate complete mesh rolls for measured runs using entered roll length, allowance and overlap.
How to use this calculator
How to measure
Measure each straight run and total deductions. Read usable roll length from the exact product data and enter the overlap that the chosen installation method requires.
Worked example
A planned 11 m run with 10 m rolls and 1 m overlap needs two rolls. They contain 20 m of material and provide 19 m effective coverage.
Formula and method
Sum gross minus openings, apply allowance. If planned exceeds one roll: rolls = 1 + ceil((planned − roll length) ÷ (roll length − overlap)). Zero net returns zero rolls.
Assumptions
- Run lengths may be summed for material coverage.
- Overlap is explicit and smaller than roll length.
Limitations
- No posts, foundations, tensioning or wind resistance.
- Offcuts and reuse between disconnected runs are not optimized.
FAQ
Why is material length larger than coverage?
Adjacent rolls consume the entered overlap.
Does zero net length buy one roll?
No. The purchase result is zero.
