Volume calculator
Calculate a rectangular volume, explicit allowance and complete containers of a known volume.
How to use this calculator
How to measure
Measure the three perpendicular inside dimensions of the rectangular space using the same displayed unit.
Worked example
A 2 × 3 × 4 m space is 24 m³. A 5 m³ container size requires 5 complete containers and provides 25 m³.
Formula and purchasing method
net volume = length × width × height; planned volume = net × (1 + allowance/100); containers = ceil(planned ÷ container volume).
Assumptions
- The body is a rectangular prism.
- Container volume is a usable volume from the selected product or logistics specification.
Limitations
- Formula v1 does not model cylinders, slopes or displaced objects.
- Compaction, bulking and density are not inferred.
FAQ
Can I calculate litres?
Enter a cubic-metre equivalent; 1 m³ equals 1,000 L.
Is this a concrete calculator?
It is generic geometry. Use the concrete tools for concrete-specific purchase outputs.
