Column intentConcrete column volume calculator
Use this page for square or rectangular columns, piers, and small blocks where height is the key third dimension. It gives a direct cubic-meter result.
Best for
- Piers
- Columns
- Small blocks
Worked example
A 0.4 m by 0.4 m column at 3 m height
Multiply the footprint by the height to get the base volume, then add a small waste allowance if needed.
Example
0.4 m × 0.4 m × 3 m = 0.48 m3. With 8 percent waste, the adjusted order volume is 0.52 m3.
Formula
Volume = length × width × height
Adjusted volume = volume × (1 + waste / 100)
How to use it
When to use this page
Square piers
Measure one side and use the same figure for both footprint dimensions.
Rectangular blocks
Use the actual footprint if the column is wider in one direction.
Waste factor
A small allowance covers formwork losses and uneven fill.
