Shed base intentHow much concrete do I need for a shed base?
Shed bases are usually small slabs. This page keeps the estimate simple and gives a quick path back to the main calculator.
Best for
- Shed bases
- Tool stores
- Small pads
Worked example
A 3 m by 2.4 m shed base at 0.1 m thickness
A small slab needs only a modest waste factor, but the figures still benefit from being rounded up.
Example
3 m × 2.4 m × 0.1 m = 0.72 m3. With 7 percent waste, the adjusted order volume is 0.77 m3.
Formula
Volume = length × width × thickness
Adjusted volume = volume × (1 + waste / 100)

Shed base tips
Small slab
Measure the outside slab dimensions and keep the thickness uniform.
Edge tolerances
Even a small base can lose material at the perimeter and during finishing.
Keep it simple
If the base has cutouts or steps, calculate each rectangle separately.
