Floor panel calculator
Calculate floor area, explicit installation waste and complete packs from the selected product's coverage per pack.
How to use this calculator
How to measure
Measure finished room length and width. Copy m² or ft² per pack from the exact flooring product page or packaging.
Worked example
A 3 × 2 m floor is 6 m². With 5% waste it needs 6.3 m². Packs covering 2.128 m² require 3 packs and provide 6.384 m².
Formula and purchasing method
net area = length × width; planned area = net × (1 + waste/100); packs = ceil(planned area ÷ coverage per pack).
Assumptions
- The floor zone is rectangular.
- Coverage per pack is the published value for the exact panel product.
Limitations
- Formula v1 does not plan row staggering, cuts or board orientation.
- Expansion gaps, underlay, profiles and damaged boards are outside the result.
FAQ
Should I use planks per pack or area per pack?
Use the published area per pack; it already reflects the plank dimensions and count.
Can I use diagonal waste?
Enter a waste percentage appropriate to the layout and manufacturer guidance.
