Aerated concrete lambda: density and product values
Aerated concrete lambda must match the block's density and product identity. The 2020 bauroc catalogue lists 0.072–0.15 W/(m·K) across products with densities 300–575 kg/m³. This historical range illustrates variation; it does not replace the current block declaration or design value. The mortar and joints affect a wall differently from a single homogeneous block.

Check before using λ
- Record the exact product, market, density or thickness and document revision.
- Distinguish declared λD from the design value for the intended moisture and temperature. Unit conversion does not perform this correction.
- Confirm thickness in metres and use the same material conditions throughout the calculation.
From lambda to layer R
R [m²·K/W] = d [m] / λ [W/(m·K)]
For an illustrative 300 mm layer, the catalogue endpoints give R = 0.30 / 0.15 = 2.000 and 0.30 / 0.072 ≈ 4.167 m²·K/W. The range combines different block products. Select the actual block's value before adding mortar, other layers and surface resistances.
| d [m] | λ [W/(m·K)] | R [m²·K/W] |
|---|---|---|
| 0.30 | 0.15 | 2.000 |
| 0.30 | 0.072 | ≈ 4.167 |
Interpretation and source limits
Do not pair the lowest catalogue λ with any block density. Mortar, moisture, joints and load-bearing requirements belong to the chosen wall system, not this isolated block-layer calculation.

Sources and verification scope
The bauroc 2020 catalogue is a historical product comparison, with 0.072–0.15 W/(m·K) across different block products. It does not document a current declaration for a newly purchased block.
