Footing intent

Concrete footing volume calculator

Use this page for strip footings, trench fills, and foundation runs where length matters more than width. It gives a quick route from dimensions to cubic meters.

Best for

  • Strip footings
  • Trench fills
  • Foundation runs
Worked example

A 20 m footing, 0.6 m wide and 0.3 m deep

Footings are straightforward if you keep the run length, width, and depth consistent.

Example

20 m × 0.6 m × 0.3 m = 3.6 m3. With 5 percent waste, the adjusted order volume is 3.78 m3.

Formula

Volume = length × width × depth

Adjusted volume = volume × (1 + waste / 100)

How to use it

When to use this page

Run length

Measure the footing in segments if the depth or width changes along the run.

Width and depth

Use the real concrete section, not the wall size above it.

Waste factor

A small allowance covers spill, uneven trench bottoms, and formwork variation.
