Masonry — Materials

Record element dimensions, pieces per m², pack contents and the applicable density. A density alone does not determine thermal conductivity or structural suitability.

Masonry

  • Aerated concrete
  • ceramic block
  • brick
  • silicate
  • concrete

Thermal conductivity, density and dimensions vary by product. Enter verified product data in the calculator.

Product documentation

Use the manufacturer’s declaration or technical sheet for the exact product and intended use. Record the source, thickness, thermal conductivity, density, coverage and units where relevant. A material family is not a certified design value. Use comparable conditions when comparing products.

Compare two pack sizes for the same masonry product

These are hypothetical purchasing examples. Use the exact product, joint specification, pack contents and current supplier price for your order.

Inputs: 20 m² gross wall area, 2 m² openings, 12.5 pieces/m² and 5% allowance. Round required pieces and packs up to whole units (⌈x⌉).

20 − 2 = 18 m²; 18 × 12.5 × 1.05 = 236.25 → 237

Compare two pack sizes for the same masonry product
StageOption AOption B
Net area [m²]1818
Required pieces236.25 → 237236.25 → 237
Pieces per pack6050
Whole packs⌈237 / 60⌉ = 4⌈237 / 50⌉ = 5
Purchased pieces4 × 60 = 2405 × 50 = 250
Surplus pieces240 − 237 = 3250 − 237 = 13
Cost [EUR]4 × 80 = 3205 × 70 = 350

Both options cover 237 required pieces. At illustrative prices of EUR 80 per 60-piece pack and EUR 70 per 50-piece pack, A costs EUR 320 and B EUR 350, before delivery. A cheaper pack does not necessarily mean a cheaper order. Compare interchangeable products, identical tax treatment and delivery terms. Mortar, lintels, special pieces and structural suitability are separate checks.
